Ever
since I started creating web sites back in 1995 (when hardly anyone
knew what an Internet web site was) I had always believed the best way
to code the pages was using a basic word processor, and doing everything
by hand. I still think that is best. Page make-up programs like Site
Mill and others tended to interject extraneous code that served more
to confuse the page and cause me to loose control over what I was creating.
But recently I acquired Dreamweaver MX 2004, and I am now using it most
of the time. Dreamweaver beautifully automates page coding, while keeping
the code clean, and even checking that it stays within approved coding
standards. The code works well with all browsers and platforms that
I have been able to test. Sometime, in the very near future, I intend
to learn the finer points of Dreamweaver's sister software Flash MX
2004. Right now, I believe in keeping my web sites clean and functional,
and avoiding items that take too long to upload on a 56K modem.
